The nose and the eyebrows work. In all his pictures, he's smiling, so it's hard to tell about the mouth. I think Adam is as good a guess as any.

I retrieved your comment from the spam pile again. Don't know why it went there again. I'll keep trying to figure it out!

Mike, I apologize for the problems you had in leaving comments. For some reason, my comment spam filter grabbed your first two attempts. I didn't see any mention of erectile dysfunction drugs, Internet gambling, or naked teenagers, so I don't know what it didn't like. Then, I compounded the issue by thinking that I had restored your comments when I actually had trashed them. I did not mean to diss you. You won't have any problems now.

Your analysis of the numbers is intriguing. I never would have made those connections, but they make a lot of sense. I was thinking way back to Ted Kwalick and Bruce Clark---never even thought of Adam Taliaferro.

Have you looked closely at the faces? Does the face on 43 look like Taliaferro? I don't have a good picture of him to compare.

The sculptor has a web site but it doesn't provide an email address. I'm tempted to get in touch with him to find out if you're right.

(Just like a Turkey to give a quiz and not know the answers himself!)

YES! Victory is mine!

As I tried to say in the four previous posts that didn't go through for some reason, I suspect 82 and 86 represent the championship years. 22 and 43 represent Capeletti and Adam Taliaferro, the two most inspirational players PSU has every had. Remember Taliaferro was injured just before the sculpture was dedicated. Just my guess.

Hmmm...I noted that someone named "Mike" had left some comments that my comment spam filter caught. I marked them as "Not Spam" but the damn filter deleted them anyway. Sorry, Mike. I thought it was going to put them here where they belonged.

Anyway, I briefly looked at them and noted that Mike brought up an interesting possibility: that 82 and 86 might represent the national championship years. If that would be the case, though, 22 and 43 wouldn't be consistent. Nevertheless, this was the best answer so far.

Mike, if you're still out there, please try to re-post your comments.

Thanks!

You have a good excuse, doc, assuming that PSU is not your alma mater. My PSU readers---faithful fans and alumni---have no such excuse. Let's have those answers people!

And, no, #86 is NOT Hines Ward.

(The fact is that *I* don't know who they are, with the exception of #22, who I presume to be John Capelletti. But I know that someone out there must know!)
