Big Chief Flash-in-the-Pan

This week, the Nittany Lions (7-1, 4-0 Big Ten) host the Fighting Illini (6-2, 2-2), who are coming off an ego deflating loss last week at Purdue, 21-14. The weather will definitely have an effect on the outcome of this game, with a whiteout from the heavens forecast for Happy Valley.

Illiniwekless Illini Unable to Tomahawk Nittany Lions

The Fighting Illini (who are still allowed to be fighters, but cannot have their warrior leader) could have used some more horses and some tomahawks on Saturday. Illinois (1-3, 0-2 Big Ten) had been highly regarded before their season started with a loss to Missouri, and things have gone downhill for them ever since. On Saturday, while playing in front of nearly 63,000 orange-clad fans on their newly remodeled home field, they lost once again, this time to our beloved #15 Nittany Lions (4-1, 1-1 Big Ten), 35-17.

Williams Comes Alive in Lions Win

We’re used to expressing disappointment about Derrick Williams’ performances in our post-game retrospectives. Except for his freshman year, 2005, Williams has been an underachiever in view of his much hyped recruitment dossier. However, on Saturday night, Williams finally lived up to his vaunted potential, performing a triple-threat feat no one else has ever done under head coach Joe Paterno.
