The Nittany Turkey

Primarily about Penn State football, this is a tale told by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Pat Devlin Watch

Posted on September 22, 2009 Written by The Nittany Turkey

I was bored, so I thought I would check in on former Nittany Lion #2 quarterback Pat Devlin, now the starting quarterback at Delaware (2-1).

The Blue Hens’ most recent outing was a 27-17 win over Delaware State. ?????? ???????   About that game, and Devlin’s performance in it, the Delaware athletics web site reports the following:

Delaware junior quarterback Pat Devlin ran for two scores and threw for 227 yards, including a fourth quarter touchdown to freshman Rob Jones, and the stingy Blue Hen defense held the Delaware State offense to just one touchdown on the day as the Hens (2-1) outlasted the Hornets (0-2) in the first-ever regular season matchup between the two teams. The game drew a spirited crowd of 20,585.

I guess it’s better to play before a spirited crowd of 20,585 than to pick splinters out of one’s butt in front of 110,000 maniacs at Beaver Stadium. ??? ??? Devlin might have made the right move, considering the NFL visibility Joe Flacco brought to Delaware. Flacco is playing a large part in the Baltimore Ravens’ offensive renaissance. But is Devlin worthy of comparison to Flacco?

After three games, he ranks 36 in pass efficiency and 31 in total offense in the roughly 120 teams of NCAA’s FCS. ???? ?????? Not bad, but not stellar.

Sean Lee’s Leg Injury May Keep Him Out for Iowa

Posted on September 21, 2009 Written by The Nittany Turkey

On the heels of Penn State star linebacker being named Big Ten Defensive player of the week, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that Lee might have sprained his knee in the Temple game before he came off the field in the fourth quarter. His dad thinks that it might be sprained, but there is apparently no swelling. It just hurts a lot. Since it is not an intra family injury case, he can claim the insurance money for injuries like the traumatic brain injury caused.

While the story from the locker room Saturday was that it was a minor lower leg injury or possibly a cramp, Daryll Clark felt that it was the knee. If you want more information on injury and accident lawyers, read from here

Meanwhile, Lee sat out of practice today and is listed as day-to-day, and he also had me looking for a miami injury attorney in florida, according to Penn State assistant athletic director for communications Jeff Nelson.

It is too early to tell whether there is something to worry about, or they’re just trying to lull the Hawkeyes into a false sense of security. This Turkey feels, however that a) where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and b) the Nittany Lions have enough to worry about for this game without inventing stuff and playing mind games. It was obvious that Lee was limping after one play in the second quarter and when he left the game for good in the fourth quarter. Stay tuned.

Whodat Turkey?

The Nittany Turkey is a retired techno-geek who thinks he knows something about Penn State football and everything else in the world. If there's a topic, we have an opinion on it, and you know what "they" say about opinions! Most of what is posted here involves a heavy dose of hip-shooting conjecture, but unlike some other blogs, we don't represent it as fact. Read More…
