The Nittany Turkey

Primarily about Penn State football, this is a tale told by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Excitement!

Posted on October 2, 2016 Written by The Nittany Turkey

Penn State (3-2, 1-1) defeats Minnesota (3-1, 0-1) 29-23 (OT)

Few mood swings could ever equal those which were elicited by this game. The 80,000 rabid fans at St. Joe Memorial Stadium at Beaver got more than their money’s worth. In the end, a decimated defense would intercept a crucial Minnesota pass in the red zone to turn the tide away from what surely looked like a loss and then stave off a Minnesota overtime touchdown drive, while a much maligned quarterback and a frustrated star running back who were shut down most of the game rose to the occasion when everything was on the line. Run, Gophers, Run. Find your holes.

Minnesota Golden Gophers (3-0, 0-0 Big Ten) face Penn State (2-2, 0-1)

Minnesota Golden GophersThe Gophers are coming! The Gophers are coming! They’re running all over the place. We hope the mighty Nittany Lions can chase them back down their gopher holes.

Minnesota is coming off a big 31-24 win over Colorado State (2-2), while Penn State is still reeling from a 49-10 loss to #4 Michigan (4-0). This game is the conference opener for the Golden Gophers, who will be playing at St. Joe Memorial Stadium at Beaver for the seventh time. Penn State leads the series 8-5, including a 4-2 record at home.

This is a 3:30 kickoff, which offers some protection against “that dullard look,” but because that particular demeanor was prevalent against Michigan last week, also a 3:30 start, no one knows whether the Nittany Lions will come out flat or determined and poised for action. I don’t think they’ll be as intimidated by these tiny rodents this week as they were by the vicious weasels last week.  [Read more…]

Good Teams Make Good Teams Look Bad

Posted on September 25, 2016 Written by The Nittany Turkey

But they make bad teams look even worse.

The Number Four Michigan Wolverines (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) dominated our hapless Penn State Nittany Lions (2-2, 0-1) for sixty minutes at da Big House on Saturday, cruising to a 49-10 victory while slicing through the depleted PSU defense like a hot knife through butter. [Read more…]

Whodat Turkey?

The Nittany Turkey is a retired techno-geek who thinks he knows something about Penn State football and everything else in the world. If there's a topic, we have an opinion on it, and you know what "they" say about opinions! Most of what is posted here involves a heavy dose of hip-shooting conjecture, but unlike some other blogs, we don't represent it as fact. Read More…
