The Nittany Turkey

Primarily about Penn State football, this is a tale told by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Forced Update!

Posted on September 8, 2014 Written by The Nittany Turkey

Oy, vey, the recent upgrade to WordPress 4.0 broke my old Thesis 1.8.5 theme, already, so I was forced to abandon it and go with a new theme for The Nittany Turkey.

This is a work in progress. I’d rather be adding content and making impertinent comments than playing with CSS and stuff, so the blog will be in rough shape for a while.

Please let me know if you have any problems. I’ll address bugs and missing features as time permits.

Yes, you can!

A faithful reader and part-time antagonist, Walter K., wrote:

I wish there were some way of navigating your stupid Nittany Turkey website. I can never enter anything in it. Can’t you let me in now that ‘Dusker can’t subscribe?  What Beano Cook was to Kiski Prep, you are to Altoona and journalism. A near curmudgeon, you.

I shall respond.

As to the issue of not being able to register, I’ve fixed that. I didn’t know that I had turned off the registration link, but that is indeed what happened. It can be found under the header “META” at the bottom of the column on the far right (not politically). If you want to avoid having to enter the same, damn, redundant information each time you want to leave a comment, register and save yourself some time.

Regarding the characterization as a “near curmudgeon”, hell, I’ve been way over the line into full curmudgeonhood for at least the past 20 years!

P.S. to BigAl:

I put a “captcha” thing on the registration form because I was getting some spam registrations. I want to give you a heads-up just in case you go there, because you’ve told me those things piss you off. I have no plans of requiring that crap for comments.

Turkey Trotting

Posted on July 23, 2010 Written by The Nittany Turkey

It’s vacation time in Turkeyland. The summer heat has withered this Turkey’s wattles, so I’ll be grabbing Artificially Sweetened and Da Cupcake and heading north for a while. Oh, sure, y’all have been in the throes of a heat wave up there for a while now, but at least the nighttime temperatures will be respectably sleepable.

I won’t be posting much, if anything, while I’m away from steamy Central Florida. When I return, I’ll dive right into to what appears to be a topsy-turvy season for the Nittany Lions.

I hope all of you are having an enjoyable summer and beating the heat in an enviable way.

Whodat Turkey?

The Nittany Turkey is a retired techno-geek who thinks he knows something about Penn State football and everything else in the world. If there's a topic, we have an opinion on it, and you know what "they" say about opinions! Most of what is posted here involves a heavy dose of hip-shooting conjecture, but unlike some other blogs, we don't represent it as fact. Read More…
