Ohio State BuckeyesThis will be the next Game of the Millennium, the battle of two quarterbacks WHO CAN HURT YOU IN SO MANY WAYS, and the first time Penn State has faced a potent offense that comes with a modicum of defense, in what will be a season defining game for each of the two combatants.

Ohio State, well rested after a bye week, was last seen kicking the shit out of Nebraska on their home turf, 56-14, while the Nittany Lions kicked similar shit out of Michigan last Saturday night, 42-13. [Read more…]

Recanting the recantation

As I originally predicted before my lunatic fringe recantations, in the words of the late, lamented, inimitable Bob Prince, “We had ’em all the way!” On a mighty crappy night weatherwise, the spirit of St. ???? ????? Joe prevailed at whited out St. Joe Memorial Stadium at Beaver, as the much maligned (by me) Penn State Nittany Lions (5-2, 3-1 Big Ten) whipped the #2 Ohio State Buckeyes (6-1, 3-1) 24-21. Buckeyes in the Land of the Whiteout

#2 Ohio State Buckeyes (6-0, 3-0 Big Ten) vs. Penn State Nittany Lions (4-2, 2-1)

Ohio State BuckeyesBefore we get to the Buckeyes, let me gloat about my first half season prediction being right on the mark. In my August musing, I wrote that Kitties would be 4-2 going into the Ohio State game, with losses to Pitt and Michigan. That’s where we are, although it was pretty much a no-brainer to predict. I and just about everyone else can say “I told you so,” although if we all forecast the same thing, there’s no one to brag to.

However, my prediction for the initial game of the second half of the season, namely the Buckeyes, was a flight of fancy. I predicted an upset victory for Penn State at home in whited out St. Joe Memorial Stadium at Beaver, based on the Nittany Lions coming together by the mid-point in the season after a bye week and the Buckeyes coming off a hard-fought game at Camp Randall.
