Primarily about Penn State football, this is a tale told by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Early Road Game With Traditional Rival of Yore

Heather Lyke, Pitt AD
Heather Lyke, Pitt AD

What’s this Heather Likes stuff? Oh yeah, Heather Lyke is the University of Pittsburgh AD. She’s their Sandy Barbour. I bet RD would go for her athletic looks. Just a hunch.

Heather came to Pitt from Brick Dick U., where she was also AD, but as an undergraduate at Michigan her sport was softball. She was captain of the Mishugganah Wolverines’ softball team before she earned a J.D. at University of Akron School of Law.

I think this overachieving Heather is a good catch for Pitt, until she decides to wait for an opening in Ann Arbor. She also favors getting the Pitt-PSU rivalry going again, but that’s not Lykely to happen for another decade, if at all. [Read more…]

Irma — the Pitts

Posted on September 12, 2017 Written by The Nittany Turkey

This here turkey is muy afortunada in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. First and foremost, we are still here. As a bonus, not only did the house hold up during hurricane force winds, but I never lost power. ?????? ??????? The estimate being bandied about by the media is that 60% of Floridians are without power. Ice is selling out at reopened stores as soon as it is delivered to the store. A neighborhood a half-mile away from me is flooded, as are many other Florida neighborhoods, from Key West to Jacksonville. The cleanup is going well — neighbors helping neighbors — and people are getting back to watching football again.

Football Back to Front Seat

Speaking of football, there was that Pitt game. I’m sure that by this time you’re all well aware of the 33-14 win and the pluses and minuses of the Nittany Lions’ performance. ????? ?????? Nevertheless, I’ll give you a few dumbass observations from the turkey. [Read more…]

The Only Disappointment Was the Loss

Posted on September 11, 2016 Written by The Nittany Turkey

Pitt (2-0) 42, Penn State (1-1) 39

Many of the younger fans of Pitt and Penn State football now know something about this rivalry. A game like Saturday’s, played before the largest crowd ever to attend a sporting event in Pittsburgh (and that’s saying something!), firmly established the rivalry in their minds and enhanced it in the ancient minds who lived it back in the day. This rivalry should be continued beyond the current, four game commitment. It should be a permanent annual event. [Read more…]

Whodat Turkey?

The Nittany Turkey is a retired techno-geek who thinks he knows something about Penn State football and everything else in the world. If there's a topic, we have an opinion on it, and you know what "they" say about opinions! Most of what is posted here involves a heavy dose of hip-shooting conjecture, but unlike some other blogs, we don't represent it as fact. Read More…
