The Nittany Turkey

Primarily about Penn State football, this is a tale told by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Merry Holidays

Posted on November 29, 2005 Written by The Nittany Turkey

This afternoon, while perusing the on-line edition of my local newspaper, The Orlando Sentinel, I encountered one of those survey forms designed to foment reader-to-reader discussions. A regular feature of the on-line edition, these surveys tend to collect responses to current issues mainly from boorish ignoramuses who need someplace to blow wind. Well, The Turkey, being a boorish ignoramus, has a place to blow wind right here and blow wind is what he’s going to do.

The issue for today was presumably innocuous: “Are you buying a holiday tree this year? If so, will it be real or artificial? How much will you spend?” This was the political correctness straw that broke the Turkey’s back, and about it I shall now blow appropriately hot breezes through this chilly forum.

Sports Illustrated Goes Blue and White

Posted on November 26, 2005 Written by The Nittany Turkey

The November 28, 2005 issue of Sports Illustrated is heavily blue and white. Its cover (below) features a picture of JoePa jogging onto the field with his team. The title is “Yo, Joe — Going Great at 78, JOE PATERNO Has Penn State Back in the Big Time.” There is an inset photo of Paul Posluszny, about whom there is a feature article inside.

This does not qualify for the SI cover jinx because the publication date is over a month in advance of the next game. You never heard that before? Well, look up at the top of the page: it’s The Nittany Turkey’s column and the Turkey gets to make the damn rules. ??? ???? bet365

In the same issue of SI is a small blurb about the potential bowl matchup for Penn State, which says:

Assuming No. 2 Texas goes to the Rose Bowl, the Fiesta Bowl will have to choose between longtime favorite Penn State and TV darling Notre Dame. betfinal ???? The Nittany Lions’ likely opponent would be Oregon, while the Irish could meet the Ducks or Ohio State. ????? ??? ???? ??????

I’m not going to get into the speculation at this point, because the options are still many and the experts seem to be just as confused as this dilettante Turkey.

Read this issue of SI and enjoy the ride!

Go Ahead—Make a Liar Out of Me!

Posted on November 19, 2005 Written by The Nittany Turkey

No sooner do I finish my article about the Michigan State game, in which I said that the best we could do was maybe possibly perhaps finish #3, than #3 Miami goes and loses to Georgia Tech, 14–10. What’s more, Fresno State is beating #1 USC 21–13 at halftime. ????? ?????? While it’s still too early to tell about the latter game, the winds of fate might be making a liar out of me yet again. Who the hell knows? After tonight, the Nittany Lions might have a shot at the damn Rose Bowl! ????? ??????

Ahhh, the wonderful world of college football in November. Ya gotta love it!

I’m off to Baltimore to see the Steelers game tomorrow on my birthday and once again, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. arabic casino

Whodat Turkey?

The Nittany Turkey is a retired techno-geek who thinks he knows something about Penn State football and everything else in the world. If there's a topic, we have an opinion on it, and you know what "they" say about opinions! Most of what is posted here involves a heavy dose of hip-shooting conjecture, but unlike some other blogs, we don't represent it as fact. Read More…
