The Nittany Turkey

Primarily about Penn State football, this is a tale told by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

PSU Phasing Out ‘Zombie Nation’

Posted on October 22, 2006 Written by The Nittany Turkey

Concerned that the bouncing of students to the tune of Zombie Nation would compromise the structural integrity of Beaver Stadium, PSU officials have decided to phase it out. Zombie Nation is a ubiquitous, crowd rousing song heard in stadiums across the country, but its days being played at PSU are numbered.

The safety of thousands of people is obviously more important than hearing a song that isn’t particularly associated with Penn State. However, is this move being made casually over the threat of bodily injuries without studying the Beaver Stadium structure to see whether it is really necessary?

Having prohibited booze in the parking lots during games and having closed down Paternoville until the Thursday before game day, the administration seems intent on denying kids fun. This Turkey would rather err on the side of caution, but with all these recent prohibitions coming down from Old Main, one has to wonder whether some of the strictures are really necessary.

More on this story appears in the Daily Collegian.

Courtney Brown Out for Season and Maybe More

Posted on October 22, 2006 Written by The Nittany Turkey

Penn State’s #1 draft pick (2000) Courtney Brown might have suffered his final football injury. The big defensive end was injured once again, will undergo microfracture surgery on his left knee, and will face a difficulty rehab. ???? ???? He is at least out for the season, but Pro Football Weekly states that he “faces an uphill battle to even return to football…”

Says the Denver Post:

If an injury takes Brown from the game, it would be as fitting as unfortunate. After his rookie season with Cleveland in 2000, soma online texas Brown missed 33 games over the next four seasons because of neck, ankle, foot, arm and multiple knee injuries. Released by Cleveland after the 2004 season, Brown was reinvigorated after signing with the Broncos last season. ?????? ???????

Starting at right end, Brown was part of a Denver defense that finished second against the run. This season, with Brown out all season, the Broncos rank 17th against the run, although second in points allowed.

The Turkey wishes Courtney all the best and hopes to see him play again someday. bet365 arab

Whodat Turkey?

The Nittany Turkey is a retired techno-geek who thinks he knows something about Penn State football and everything else in the world. If there's a topic, we have an opinion on it, and you know what "they" say about opinions! Most of what is posted here involves a heavy dose of hip-shooting conjecture, but unlike some other blogs, we don't represent it as fact. Read More…
