After a couple of weeks of speculation, the Patriot-News is reporting what we were all thinking here. While the impact to the team’s on-field performance might not be significant, the impact to the program and its head coach sure as hell is. Scott and his attorney intend to prove that Scott and his alleged victim had consensual sex. He also faces misdemeanor charges of simple assault and indecent assault. Scott is still listed as #3 running back for Saturday’s Wisconsin game.

Wow, talk about having words put in your mouth. I don’t think it’s a leap to blame the coaching staff for a quarterback who is as inept as ours after four years of their coaching……however Austin is on his own on this one…. what he is accused of isn’t football.

My closing admonition was not directed at you, Jed. In my mind when I wrote it was the growing legion of chronic malcontents who advance their “Joe must go” agenda by blaming anything negative about team members, both on and off the field, on coaching. I’ve seen too much of that shit on the message boards and in some other blogs. I don’t think any amount of coaching would convince a 22 year-old to keep his dick in his pants, unless the player were under the direct supervision of the coach. So, unless Joe or Galen were with Scott at 4 AM that Friday morning, I ain’t going to blame the coaches!
