The Nittany Turkey

Primarily about Penn State football, this is a tale told by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

IITOP Debunked – It DOES Matter!

Posted on November 11, 2018 Written by The Nittany Turkey

Penn State 22, Wisconsin 10

Those of us who had lost faith in the Lions, thinking they couldn’t solve their problems before the end of the year, were treated to a pleasant surprise in the blustery cold of St. Joe Memorial-Irwin Financial Stadium at Beaver Field on Saturday. Any notion that Time of Possession is increasingly irrelevant should fly back in to Matt Herb’s ass from whence it came. Penn State won the game because it took care of business, keeping the ball for 34 minutes while the Badgers could manage only 26, quite a turnaround from being dead last in the conference. Wisconsin Badgers vs. #21 Penn State

Wisconsin BadgersThe beaten-up Lions return to St. Joe Memorial Stadium (formerly Penndot) at Beaver Field to take on the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday at noon. Yes, that’s right, noon. The season has come to that. ESPN/ABC find us so unappealing that we get the ho-hum noon kickoff this week and probably, henceforth. Nevertheless, some PSU homeys still think this team is hot shit!

The two combatants have identical overall season records of 6-3, but the Badgers have a better conference record, 4-2. Penn State is 3-3.  ‘Sconsin’s two losses were to Michigan and Northwestern, and their non-conference loss was to BYU. Next week, they face resurgent Purdue.

The all-time series is tied at 9-9. So, this is the rubber match for slim-ass bragging rights next year. [Read more…]

Michigan 42, Penn State 7

K. John hit the top number, and the bottom number didn’t matter. Michigan thoroughly throttled the Nittany Lions, 42-7, with the 7 resulting from a last-gasp, desperation drive to avoid a shutout with the game long since decided.

Trace McSorley had a bad day, exacerbated by breakdowns by the offensive line and coaching weirdness. The defense was able to keep the game close for the first half in spite of the offense sputtering. But all hell broke loose in the second half. [Read more…]

Whodat Turkey?

The Nittany Turkey is a retired techno-geek who thinks he knows something about Penn State football and everything else in the world. If there's a topic, we have an opinion on it, and you know what "they" say about opinions! Most of what is posted here involves a heavy dose of hip-shooting conjecture, but unlike some other blogs, we don't represent it as fact. Read More…
