The Nittany Turkey

Primarily about Penn State football, this is a tale told by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Austin Scott Cleared

Posted on April 18, 2008 Written by The Nittany Turkey

Well, folks, didn’t you know that that broad’s story sounded flimsy as hell, in view of her other, similar allegations? Apparently, the Centre County District Attorney’s Office finally came around to thinking so, too. With the trial due to begin next Wednesday and the jury already selected, FOS is reporting that rape charges were dropped and Scott is no longer charged with anything.

The ex-Nittany Lion running back was kicked off the team during last season because of the rape allegation. I wonder how this will hurt his NFL Draft chances. I guess we’ll find out soon enough, as the Draft takes place April 26 & 27. The Turkey, of course, will deliver incisive analysis, from a Penn State perspective.

It seems that the Centre County DA has been more than a bit overzealous in pressing charges against Penn State football players, doesn’t it? How many felony charges against players have evaporated before cases have reached trial? Doesn’t this suggest to anybody that something is rotten in the State of Denmark?

Byebye, Kristy

Posted on April 17, 2008 Written by The Nittany Turkey

Well, the unthinkable has happened on American Idol. Kristy Lee Cook bit the dust last night and I’m bummed.

I honestly think that she did a much better job on Tuesday night than Carly and Brooke. She even arguably did better than Syesha.

I don’t know what to think of the voters now.

Brooke Needs Shields

Posted on April 16, 2008 Written by The Nittany Turkey

She does. Brooke White needs all the armor she can get to cling to any hope of surviving this week on American Idol.

She and Carly both sucked on Tuesday night. Syesha was just OK. She didn’t thrill me very much. However, among the women, the biggest surprise was Kristy Lee Cook, who—no matter what Simon sez—nailed her song. (I’d like to nail her.)

Carly covered her tattoo, which was a good thing. At one point, the camera provided us with a shot of her husband, who looked either like he had been in a vehicle-pedestrian collision with a paint truck or took a wrong turn and rode his bike through a paint ball battlefield. So we had ample advertising for the family tattoo parlor. But the singing sucked the big one.

Among the guys, David Cook’s original arrangement was a standout, but David Archuleta delivered hands-down the best performance of the evening. This competition is his to lose, and it ain’t likely that he will.

I think Brooke should go, but my predictions have been way off this season. So, I’m going to say that Carly will be the one shedding the tears tonight. Tune in at 9ET/8CT and see for yourself!

Whodat Turkey?

The Nittany Turkey is a retired techno-geek who thinks he knows something about Penn State football and everything else in the world. If there's a topic, we have an opinion on it, and you know what "they" say about opinions! Most of what is posted here involves a heavy dose of hip-shooting conjecture, but unlike some other blogs, we don't represent it as fact. Read More…
