Sorry, Bobby – St. Joe Rules

Posted on January 16, 2015 Written by The Nittany Turkey

Joe Paterno Wins Over NCAA Posthumously

Hot flash! The NCAA announced that pursuant to an agreement being hammered out between the parties, Joe Paterno’s 111 vacated wins will be restored. They’ll give one back to Scrap Bradley, too.

He’s Real Fine, My 409!

So, St. Joe now has 409 wins again and Bobby Bowden has fewer. Pffffffffffft!

So, Why Is This Happening?

The NCAA fears what might come out of the pending trial, that’s why. And I don’t blame them, because what they did to Penn State bordered on criminal. No doubt, there are other skeletons in their closet that Mark Emmert and company are loath to have exposed.

While we’re at it, Louis Freeh ought to be afraid — be very afraid. I want my $6 million buy tramadol with paypal back.

And now, what about the statue? LOL! Is it in Franco’s basement? Is it stored “in a safe place” like one of those abandoned Pennsylvania Turnpike tunnels? Enquiring minds want to know. Will this settlement clear the way for the Penn State administration to begin restoring the glory of St. Joe, like PS4RS has wanted all along?

Name the stadium Paterno’s Beaver Stadium. Hell, call the University Joe Paterno Culture of Football University, for that matter! St. Joe is Back!

While we’re at it, USA Today published a piece giving a good timeline on how Penn State was coerced into signing the consent decree.

Sandusky tab thus far: $23.5 million

Posted on December 10, 2012 Written by The Nittany Turkey

The Freeh Report, along with various and sundry other legal and administrative expenses in the wake of the Sandusky scandal have cost Penn State University a small fortune thus far—and the meter is still ticking.

Laura Nichols of StateCollege.com reports that the bill to date has been $23,547,634. That figure is already out of date by over two months due to reporting lag. However, it does not include any part of the $60 million fine imposed by Emmert the Weak and his NCAA cronies. The University has to pay the first $12 million installment by December 20. Neither does it include any compensation to “the vicccctimmmmmmms,” which is expected to be — well, more potential millions.

Some of the items included are, of course, the Freeh Report, as well as costs of university legal defense, externally initiated investigations, and legal defense for Schultz, Curley, and Spanier. Nichols’ article called the last category “Indemnified Persons’ Legal Defense*”, presumably something that came from the Penn State Progress web site, which offers a FAQ page relating to the costs. (Asterisks leading to nowhere are a pet peeve of my lady, Artificially Sweetened.)

So, I went to “Progress” and found where the asterisk went:

* The Bylaws of Penn State state that “except as prohibited by law, every trustee and officer of the University shall be entitled as of right to be indemnified by the University against expenses (including counsel fees) and any liability (including judgments, fines, penalties, excise taxes and amounts paid in settlement) paid or incurred by such person in connection with any actual or threatened claim, action, suit or proceeding, civil, criminal, administrative, investigative or other.” Article 5, Section 2.

Instead of whining to the retirement system for reinstatement of a pension he doesn’t deserve, Sandusky should be saving up his cigarettes for paying back the University for a portion of the cost of the crap he created. Fucking pervert!

Football Culture at Ohio State

Posted on October 5, 2012 Written by The Nittany Turkey

I obviously have a pre-game pre-preview to write prior to the Northwestern game, but here is something that caught my eye that will provide amusement for your soporific Friday afternoon while battling the clock of go-homeness. Meanwhile, I have a boat trailer to assemble; after that and a trip to the post office, I’ll be back with some serious (ok, ok, not so serious) Homecoming Edition takes on the forthcoming NWU contest.

But for now, savor this little tidbit. CAN YOU SAY IMMINENT TRANSFER TO UNC? PHANTOM AFRICAN AND AFRICAN-AMERICAN STUDIES CLASSES URGENTLY NEEDED!!!!

It seems that a certain true freshman quarterback at Ohio State has been refreshingly candid on Twitter about how he thinks Dr. Gordon Gee should run his institution, to wit:

Tell it like it is, Cardale!

Well, then. That pretty much sums it up.

Here’s the take on young Cardale, straight from Brutus’ mouth:

Overview: Cardale Jones initially signed his national letter of intent with Ohio State in February 2011, but with the plan of delaying his enrollment and attending Fork Union Military Academy in the fall, which he did this past season and where he roomed with 2012 Ohio State recruit Michael Thomas … he was rated by Rivals.com as the No. 12 prep school player in the country in 2011 … he led perennial northeast Ohio power Cleveland Glenville to a 24-3 record as a starting quarterback … passed for 1,689 yards and 22 touchdowns as a senior in 2011 for coach Ted Ginn and was named third-team Division I all-state by the Associated Press … threw for 2,168 yards and 18 touchdowns as a junior in 2009, and he also had 14 career rushing touchdowns … was the MVP of the 2010 Offense-Defense Bowl, and he also played in the Big 33 Game … a basketball letterman at Glenville … Cardale is the son of Florence Jones … he enrolled at Ohio State in January 2012.

What do you want to bet that when the Urban spin doctors get their hands on this, it will be written off as a prank? Or it was his dumbass baby brother who wrote dat after stealing Cardale’s phone. Yeah, that’s it!

I mean, we ain’t come to PLAY SCHOOL!

Whassup, muthafucka!?!

And “Fork Union” Military Academy? FORK UNION? That’s made up, right? Fork U! Anyhow, they apparently didn’t succeed in enhancing this kid’s maturation by sending him to ol’ Fork U. Masturbation, maybe, but certainly not maturation.

At least PSU sent Chris Fenis to Kiski, a name that no one can make fun of.

This tweet has certainly gone viral by now, so it will be interesting to watch the fallout. Amen.

Whodat Turkey?

The Nittany Turkey is a retired techno-geek who thinks he knows something about Penn State football and everything else in the world. If there's a topic, we have an opinion on it, and you know what "they" say about opinions! Most of what is posted here involves a heavy dose of hip-shooting conjecture, but unlike some other blogs, we don't represent it as fact. Read More…
