College Football Tidbits
Welcome to an extra edition (extradition) of Sudden Impact, the sporadic, tidbit-bearing piece of journalistic trash that finds the best in derivative Penn State football and related college football kind of news. We’ll take a step aside from “breaking down” (I hate that shitty phrase) Boston College to break down some news and speculation from the wonderful world of college football.
First off today, we had the announcement that Melvin Gordon III, Wisconsin star running back and Heisman finalist who pretty much blew his Heisman Trophy chances at the behest of the Schmuckeyes, will be entering the NFL draught, as they would call it in Jollye Olde Englande. I think Melvin will be much sought after, and he promises to excel as many of his predecessors did already in the pro arena. As a Heisman finalist, he vies for a trophy won by two former Badgers, Alan Ameche (1954) and Ron Dayne (1999).

Next, speaking of Wisconsin, we see that coach Gary Andersen is leaving the Badgers after two short years to take the helm at Oregon State. Why, it was only last week that Mike Riley of Oregon State announced that he would become the next head coach of the Cornhuskers of Nebraska.

Idle hands are the devil’s workshop, or so “they” say. Would it really surprise you if I told you that injured Ohio State quarterback J. T. Barrett and his ex-girlfriend both called 911 to complain that each was being attacked by the other? Nah, probably not. After all, Barrett is a Schmuckeye.
******
Oh, and our friend Mark Emmert is blowing off again, extolling the NCAA enforcement process, among other things, probably to deflect attention from the lawsuit filed against the NCAA by some Pennsylvania politicians that initially addressed keeping the $60 million in fines levied against Penn State inside Pennsylvania, but widened to challenge the legality of the consent decree between the NCAA and Penn State.
******
Speaking of that Pennsylvania court case, due to begin trial next month, the judge is getting testy about all the nuisance motions being filed by the NCAA. Additionally, Judge Ann Covey today denied a request by the plaintiffs to appoint a mediator to conduct negotiations between the parties.

News from the Carcajous: the head coach search labors on at Michigan, after Nebraska and Florida, both second-tier programs, snatched up new head coaches almost instantaneously after shitcanning their coaches last week. Duke head coach David Cutcliffe is one name that has come up, along with the usual suspects, Michigan Men Les Miles and Jim Harbaugh. But new names are now popping up, among them Greg Schiano, Stanford’s David Shaw, and NFL New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton. Oh, and Jerry Kill of Minnesota was mentioned, too, albeit with trepidation about his health. Obviously, no one knows what the hell is going on at Michigan!
******
Also, you might want to know that junior Devin Funchess, arguably the Carcajous’ best player, has declared for the NFL draught, too. Doesn’t make much sense for him to stay in the maize and blue with the team at a crappily low ebb and a new regime coming in. Funchess was ranked as the Number One tight end prospect by ESPN’s Mel Kiper. Good luck, Funch!
And that’s it for this edition of Sudden Impact! See you soon!

Perhaps Anderson realized after having his ass handed to him by Ohio State that he didn’t have a prayer of getting to that level in the B1G or he just would rather have an opportunity to go to a place where having a respectable 8-4 season every once in awhile was okay, but yeah, I think this one caught everyone by surprise.
Now our “friends” at Pitt are having monumental anxiety attacks as it would appear that their coach, the uninspiring Mr. Paul Chryst may be heading back to the land of brats, cheese and beer. I would suspect he would be the acknowledged front runner and has to realize that he is going to go nowhere with the Pittsburgh program in the coming years.
And speaking of tough times lately at Michigan, back to back losses to THE New Jersey Institute of Technology and Eastern Michigan University by the men’s basketball team and Urbz poaching another commit from the football team can’t have anyone feeling in the Christmas spirit out there.
