Three Penn State freshmen did not make the Outback Bowl trip. Quarterback Kevin Newsome and tight end Mark Wedderburn, both highly regarded prospects and both the subject of transfer rumors, appear to be adding fuel to the transfer fire. The third, offensive tackle Thomas Ricketts had a tonsillectomy.
Meanwhile, back at the coaching merry-go-round, Tom Bradley was never a strong contender for the Pitt job, but is interested in the Temple opening, as is Ron Vanderlinden, who applied for the head coaching opening at Ball State, but didn’t get the job. It seems pretty clear that these two will hop of the program like rats off a sinking ship should they garner any interest elsewhere.
