Sandusky Arrested

Posted on October 9, 2013 Written by The Nittany Turkey

NFL Cleveland Browns executive Jon Sandusky, the son of incarcerated and disgraced former Penn State assistant Jerry Sandusky, was arrested early Tuesday morning on suspicion of drunken driving in Fargo, N.D.

Oy, vey!

I bet you were wondering how the hell the Tickle Monster could get arrested again, weren’t you?

The troubles continue for the beleaguered Sandusky family, leading to increased speculation that Sandusky, Ohio will consider a name change to Miley Cyrusville. All right, I’m lying about that.

See the Cleveland.com for further details.

Has Ziegler Gone Too Far?

Posted on March 27, 2013 Written by The Nittany Turkey

We’ve seen documentary filmmaker and Paterno supporter John Ziegler making the rounds of the all too willing mainstream media of late, no doubt to promote his forthcoming film on the framing of Joe Paterno. ??? ???? ??? ???? Waving a three-hour-plus personal interview with the Tickle Monster in their faces provided appropriate bait to the sensationalist scumbags of the Fourth Estate. NBC and CNN slurped it up, giving Ziegler the national platform he craved to expand his sphere of influence far beyond the Paternoist backwater caverns of the PSU blogosphere.

“Quoting Sandusky as saying that Paterno didn’t know about the sexual abuse allegations is like saying that the iceberg didn’t mean to cause the sinking of the Titanic. ???? ????? ” —Holly Swanson, StateCollege.com

Drunk with the success of this ploy, however, Ziegler might have done himself considerable harm by attempting to leverage his knowledge of the Sandusky victims. Exploiting Sandusky is one thing, although the verdict in his child sexual abuse case has rendered anything Sandusky says as self-serving bullshit. It is quite another thing to blackmail victims of Sandusky’s abuse, which is precisely what Ziegler did by threatening “Victim Two” with exposing his name if he did not submit to an interview with Ziegler. ?????? ??? ???????? If Ziegler is seeking to obtain friends and supporters, this is a pretty funny way of doing it.

Holly Swanson of StateCollege.com has expressed her negativity toward Ziegler’s recent departures from propriety in this morning’s piece entitled “When the search for facts trumps the facts themselves: Filmmaker Goes Too Far by Naming Names“.  This turkey agrees with much of what she wrote. Ziegler needs to understand some boundaries here. As we mentioned in the previous post about Ziegler, public sentiment is not likely to turn in Penn State’s favor anytime soon, and Ziegler’s shenanigans are doing their part to keep the wounds open and festering in the public’s mind. Ziegler was on a good course with his vendetta to clear Joe Paterno’s name, but he took a turn southward with his heavy-handed tactics. Both the Paterno family and Penn State have distanced themselves from Ziegler through their spokespeople. Swanson agrees.

I support the effort to look closely at the media reaction to the Sandusky scandal and to examine the errors of the Freeh Report. And, most importantly, to educate ourselves about child sexual abuse and how it happens. But focusing on getting the exclusive or developing new theories that aren’t central to the goal isn’t moving us any closer to the truth. I don’t think the Paternos or Penn State needs this kind of help.

Why do people become so full of themselves that they shoot themselves in the foot? Maybe Plaxico Burress can tell you.

We need to get back to football soon! This Sandusky/Freeh/Paterno stuff is really annoying, right? I can stop anytime. Really, I can. I wanted to get out but they keep pulling me back in! Aaaaaaargh!

Public sentiment? It still sucks.

Posted on March 25, 2013 Written by The Nittany Turkey

Filmmaker and blogger John Ziegler is working on a documentary called “Framing Paterno”, in connection with which, Ziegler interviewed the Tickle Monster in mid-March. Not wishing to allow a hefty bit of sensationalism like a Sandusky interview lie unexploited while languishing in the secular backwater of a pro-Penn State/pro-Paterno blog, producers of the TODAY Show latched onto Ziegler’s interview. Matt Lauer questioned Ziegler at length about it.

From this turkey’s perspective, there’s nothing very remarkable there, other than that Ziegler claims to have three-and-a-half hours of questions and answers with the erstwhile Tickle Monster. However, what I do find remarkable in a very negative sense, is that public sentiment, at least as expressed by the blow-hards who populate Internet comment streams, is just as irrationally anti-Penn State as ever. There are 468 comments to the TODAY article; the vast preponderance still are blind-ass castigation of Penn State and everyone even peripherally aligned with Penn State. Half of them are hiding behind the viccccccccccctimmmmmmmmmms; the other half are employing a non-sequitur to paint anyone who supports Penn State as a dirty, no good, yellow-bellied child molester.

Apparently, they didn’t get the message. Bob Costas is supposed to be their god, and they’re supposed to change their tune, just as he did. Costas even works for NBC and interviewed Sandusky himself. Oops, I guess no one is listening to St. Louie Bob.

The Paterno family and the University have distanced themselves from Ziegler and the Sandusky tapes.

We impatient types are going to have to wait some more before this public disdain recedes to any significant extent. That sucks.

Whodat Turkey?

The Nittany Turkey is a retired techno-geek who thinks he knows something about Penn State football and everything else in the world. If there's a topic, we have an opinion on it, and you know what "they" say about opinions! Most of what is posted here involves a heavy dose of hip-shooting conjecture, but unlike some other blogs, we don't represent it as fact. Read More…
