The Nittany Turkey

Primarily about Penn State football, this is a tale told by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Nittany Lions in the NFL

Posted on September 1, 2015 Written by The Nittany Turkey

It was cut-down to 75 day, and a couple of former Nittany Lions perished in the process.

Former Nittany Lion Traffic Cone Miles Dieffenbach didn’t make the Steelers.

Penn State turncoat Khairi Fortt got the ax in Jacksonville.

Also, Glenn Carson got cut by Arizona and Mickey Shuler got cut by Atlanta.

On the positive side, Jesse James is still on the roster in Pittsburgh. Matt McGloin  looked great doing fourth-quarter relief for Derek Carr at Oakland, moving the offense down the field very smoothly while going 9-11 with a touchdown and a two-point conversion. This followed Carr throwing a screen to the Cardinals for an 81-yard pick-six. Former Nittany Lion Traffic Cone Donovan Smith is still battling Kevin Pamphile for the starting LT spot at Tampa Bay. They’re currently listed as co-starters.

Gerald Hodges led the Vikes in tackles, and Mike Mauti saw some action. Sean Lee, the mainstay of the Dallas Cowboys defense, returning from injury, made three tackles.

The next day of reckoning will be Saturday, when NFL rosters must be chopped to their season total of 57 players. Good luck, Nittany Lions!

Donovan Smith Pro Debut a Bit Flawed

Posted on August 16, 2015 Written by The Nittany Turkey

Is Donovan Smith a Plot by the Bucs to Collect Jameis Winston’s Life Insurance?

Former Penn State Traffic Cone Donovan Smith did not sparkle in his pro debut with the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers who apparently had great expectations when they drafted him 34th overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. The 6′ 6″, 338-pound Smith entered the game in the second quarter, replacing Kevin Pamphile, with whom he is battling for the offensive left tackle position. Things went downhil for Donovan right from the start. [Read more…]

Jesse James on the Comeback Trail LOL

Jesse James Rides Again!

After a horrendous initial pre-season outing with the Steelers against the Minnesota Vikings, ex-Nittany Lion Jesse James redeemed himself in last night’s game at Jacksonville, niftily reversing his prior fugly performance. We hope that this reflects a positive trend and that it will be the Jacksonville Jesse we see from here on. [Read more…]

Whodat Turkey?

The Nittany Turkey is a retired techno-geek who thinks he knows something about Penn State football and everything else in the world. If there's a topic, we have an opinion on it, and you know what "they" say about opinions! Most of what is posted here involves a heavy dose of hip-shooting conjecture, but unlike some other blogs, we don't represent it as fact. Read More…
