The Nittany Turkey

Primarily about Penn State football, this is a tale told by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

A New D.A. for Centre County

Posted on November 5, 2009 Written by The Nittany Turkey

Many of you Penn State alumni and fans who are scatteredfar and wide might have missed seeing the outcome of a little county election in Pennsylvania.

Fear not! From our friend Todd over at The Lion’s Den, comes this tidbit.

From the Daily Collegian:

Democratic district attorney candidate Stacy Parks Miller won the municipal election Tuesday over Republican incumbent Michael Madeira, taking 64.7 percent of the votes in Centre County. ??? ???? ????? ?? ???????? ??????

Todd writes:

The margin of victory is clear evidence as to how the voters felt Madeira was “doing his job.” Hopefully [Miller] will do her job and not waste taxpayer money by trumping up charges against Penn State football players to [keep] her name in the papers.

This Turkey says “amen!”

I realize that the vagaries of politics sometimes create the need for coloring outside the lines. However, one sure way not to be reelected — as Madeira so graphically illustrated (albeit ineptly and unwittingly self-sacrificially) — is to pick on the only game in town!

Chiefs Fans Petition to Keep LJ Benched

Posted on November 4, 2009 Written by The Nittany Turkey

Last week, we reported that ex-Nittany Lion Larry Johnson, Jr. was in a peck of trouble with the NFL Kansas City Chiefs for dissing his coach, insulting fans, and gay-bashing via Twitter. Johnson was told to stay away from team activities while his penance was being decided. Many speculated that this would be the end of Larry’s troublesome ride in Kansas City.

However, by week’s end, LJ’s agent had hammered out a deal with the Chiefs that would net Johnson what amounted to a paltry one-week suspension, after which he would remain with the team. On Monday, the settlement was announced. After losing a week’s pay, amounting to $315,000, and sitting out the November 8 game in Jacksonville, Larry will be back on active status.

This has pissed off many fans in Kansas City.

You see, LJ is only 75 yards from being the all-time leading rusher for the Chiefs, and a significant number of fans do not think that the pouting prima donna should hold such a lofty distinction in the Kansas City record book. In fact, they would prefer to expunge all memories of our Nittany embarrassment and let Priest Holmes hang onto the record until someone worthy (i.e., less of a damn troublemaker) comes along.

Whodat Turkey?

The Nittany Turkey is a retired techno-geek who thinks he knows something about Penn State football and everything else in the world. If there's a topic, we have an opinion on it, and you know what "they" say about opinions! Most of what is posted here involves a heavy dose of hip-shooting conjecture, but unlike some other blogs, we don't represent it as fact. Read More…
