Paterno Wants Another Big Ten Team

In an Ivan Maisel story on ESPN.com, Nittany Lion head coach Joe Paterno called upon the Big Ten Conference to add another team.

“I’ve tried to talk to the Big Ten people about, ‘Let’s get a 12th team — Syracuse, Rutgers, Pitt — we could have a little bit of a playoff.'”

Pitt?? Did Joe actually mention Pitt?

Stating that the rest of the conferences keep playing into December with regular games and championship games on the schedule while the Big Ten sits back for six weeks, Paterno wants more visability for the Big Ten.

However, he added that the conference is controlled by a couple of guys who essentially snicker at such ideas.

What would an expanded Big Ten be called? “Big Twelve” is taken, so how about Bigger Twelve? If played right, this could culminate in one grand pissing contest.
